How to Store Ham

Return to Cooking 101
Unless otherwise specified by a best-before date, refrigerate ham in its original wrapping for up to seven days. If vacuum packaged, check package for best-before date. Leftover cooked ham should be refrigerated within two hours of cooking.

Refrigerate the ham for up to four days. Because it changes its texture and quality, avoid putting ham in the freezer. If you must freeze ham, wrap it in moisture-proof wrapping and freeze for up to two months. Thaw in the refrigerator before using. Plan to use thawed ham in cooked dishes such as casseroles and soups. Do not refreeze.

Energy & Safety Tips
Cooking attire

Don't wear loose clothes while cooking. An electrical coil on the stove reaches a temperature of 800 degrees and a gas flame goes over 1,000 degrees. A dishtowel, potholder or a loose sleeve can catch fire at 400 degrees.
