How to Store Homemade Cookies

Return to Cooking 101
Ever wonder how to best store your cookies? Here are a few of our best tips:

  • Cool cookies completely before storing.

  • Use airtight containers or tins.

  • Store soft cookies separately from crisp cookies.

  • Decorated or frosted cookies should be stored in layers separated with wax paper.

  • If cookies have become too hard, place a slice of apple or a piece of fresh bread in the cookie container. Remove the apple or bread after one or two days.

  • Cookies too soggy? Heat them at 300°F (150°C) for several minutes before serving.

Energy & Safety Tips
Cooking attire

Don't wear loose clothes while cooking. An electrical coil on the stove reaches a temperature of 800 degrees and a gas flame goes over 1,000 degrees. A dishtowel, potholder or a loose sleeve can catch fire at 400 degrees.
