SOUTH AMERICAN BURGERS WITH CILANTRO LIME MAYO

These spicy barbecued pork and turkey patties are topped with our refreshing Cilantro Lime Mayo. Serve them open-faced on top of our Cheese Arepas, which are traditional South American corn cakes.

SOUTH AMERICAN BURGERS WITH CILANTRO LIME MAYO

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (0.5 kg) ground turkey
  • 1 lb (0.5 kg) lean ground pork
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 serrano chile pepper, halved, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 8 Cheese Arepas
  • Cilantro Lime Mayo*

Directions

  1. Preheat natural gas barbecue on medium heat for 10 - 15 minutes.
  2. Combine turkey, pork, cilantro, green onions, lime juice, chile pepper, garlic, salt, coriander and paprika until blended. Shape mixture into 8 patties.
  3. Grill patties until completely cooked.
  4. Serve on Cheese Arepas with Cilantro Lime Mayo.

CILANTRO LIME MAYO

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro

Yield: Makes about 1/2 cup.

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients until blended. Refrigerate until serving.
