What's Hot for May 2008

TIPS AND TRIVIA

For best results in cooking asparagus, it should be steamed standing on end with the tips up. This allows the tougher bottoms to cook more thoroughly while the delicate tips are lightly steamed. Tie the trimmed stalks together with butcher’s twine and stand them upright in a deep saucepan with two inches of water.  Cover the pot and steam until the asparagus is tender crisp, about 6 to 7 minutes.

Say it with Asparagus

May is one of the best months to serve fresh asparagus. This popular vegetable is actually a member of the lily family. Asparagus can be served very simply or quite spectacularly, as in our Asparagus Mimosa.

GOOD MORNING MOTHER!

On Mother’s Day, treat Mom to a quick breakfast in bed and serve our French Toast Waffles with Mango Sauce.
