Checking the House Line for Gas Leaks
Before connecting your barbecue to the natural gas line, check to see if there are any possible leaks. With the hose disconnected from the gas line, no gas should be released from the gas valve. Once you turn the gas valve to the on position, gas will flow to the end of the gas line, but no gas should be released until you have connected your barbecue hose. To check if any gas is being released, use your hand to gently fan the air from the end of the line towards you. If you smell gas, turn the valve off and call a qualified technician. If there is no gas odour, you are safe to connect your barbecue hose.
