About Us

Community Impact

Nourishing our communities and cooking up positive change.

  • Looking back at Blue Flame Kitchen in our community

Since our establishment in 1929, Blue Flame Kitchen has been dedicated to fostering a connection with our community. Our humble roots started with a team of home economists on a mission to familiarize people on how to cook with natural gas. Today, we’re proud to have evolved into a trusted culinary hub.

Through our expert-led cooking classes, events and catering services, as well as our café and take-away meals, we’re committed to educating and providing culinary excellence to our community.

At Blue Flame Kitchen, we work hard to be a trusted culinary resource that Calgarians can count on.

  • Our community partner

We are proud to uphold our commitment to the community through our Feed It Forward cooking class, in partnership with Radiance Society. Leveraging our extensive experience in food education, this initiative provides convenient and comforting ready-to-serve meals made during the cooking class for individuals in need.

Radiance Society serves as a beacon for women and children on their path to healing. Their safe housing facility provides refuge for those escaping abusive relationships, offering support during a complex journey, and Blue Flame Kitchen is honoured to have a role in this recovery.

As part of the housing program, residents receive essential food support. By donating accessible meal options that mothers can easily prepare, we're fueling empowerment, security, and togetherness for those on a journey toward healing.

  • Our partnerships in collaboration with ATCO Energy

In collaboration with ATCO Energy, Blue Flame Kitchen proudly supports organizations tackling the challenge of affordable homeownership and housing in Alberta. Women in Need Society (WINS)Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta, and HomeSpace Society are all partnerships that reflect our shared commitment to creating safer, more stable futures for families in need.

From monthly volunteer shifts and donation drives to financial contributions and annual fundraising events, our team actively engages in initiatives that help ensure access to affordable and secure housing. Together, we're building stronger communities, one home at a time.

  • ATCO EPIC
  • Employees Participating in Communities (EPIC)

As part of ATCO, we participate in the EPIC program, a grassroots initiative that puts giving back into the hands of employees. From planning and organizing to hands-on fundraising, team members lead workplace campaigns that raise vital funds and foster camaraderie through friendly competition and collective pledges.

Supporting over 800 charitable organizations across our communities, EPIC amplifies employee generosity through company matching, doubling the power of each donation. Since 2006, the EPIC program has raised nearly $59 million to support local charities!

In recognition of volunteerism, employees who contribute 50 hours or more of their time are eligible to apply for a donation to a charity of their choice, extending the impact of their commitment even further.
