May is here and that means it’s time to get outside, reconnect with nature and simply enjoy the warmer weather. It’s also a month for celebration! May kicks off with Cinco de Mayo on the fifth of May, followed by Mother’s Day and ends with the May long weekend.

No matter how you decide to celebrate this May, remember food always brings loved ones together.

On Saturday, May 9 the ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen team will be at Disaster Alley in Calgary and Get Ready in the Park in Edmonton. These free public events are in support of Emergency Preparedness Week, a national event. Stop by and check out our interactive displays about how to prepare your family and household for an emergency. We will have information on preparing a 48-hour pantry and cleaning up after water damage, and will have a fun interactive game!

These hands-on barbecue cooking classes will teach outdoor chefs the basics and beyond, from grilling proteins and vegetables to prepping rubs, sauces and sides.
