Participant Details

Safety is our first priority. To ensure that everyone has a safe and comfortable learning experience, we ask that each participant adhere to the following:

  • What to Wear

    Hands-On Cooking Classes:

    • Low-heeled, close-toed shoes are required for full participation in a hands-on cooking class. Individuals will be limited to observing if they are wearing open-toed shoes, including flip-flops and sandals.
    • Participants must wear garments that will not interfere with food preparation or pose a hazard when working on a gas cooking surface. No loose or flowing sleeves, please.
    • An apron will be provided to each participant during the class.
    • Participants with long hair must have it tied back during class.


    Demonstration Cooking Class:

    We recommend comfortable clothing and do not have any further requirements simply for observing.

    We are located right off of Crowchild Trail and 50th Ave SW.

    Enter the Commons Building from either the North or South entrances, walk towards the centre of the Commons space and you will find our learning centre.


    Parking is available in the North and South lots. If those lots are full proceed to the East side where you will find an entrance to underground parking. There are visitor parking stalls underground, if you park underground please register your car with conceirge. There is also street parking along the West side of the building.

    We are located south of the Standard Life Building on 105th Street in downtown Edmonton.

    Enter the Blue Flame Kitchen from the lobby of the ATCO Centre through the West facing doors. Our reception is located to the right of the main entrance through the glass door.


    Parking is available at the Impark lots across the street or down the block from the ATCO Centre.

  • Dietary Restrictions Policy

    Allergy Policy for Lunch 'N Learn & Hands-On Classes:

    Guests attending Lunch 'N Learn or Hands-On classes who have food allergies/restrictions will not be fully accomodated. Guests will receive a designated "ALLERGY MEAL" which will be vegan, gluten free and dairy free, and may not reflect the theme of the class. If a guest's allegy is not applicable to the class menu, they will receive the regular menu planned for the class. 

    Allergy Policy for Chef's Table Classes:

    Please ensure you have identified all allergies and dietary restrictions. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the food preparation for our classes, we are unable to make substitutions for themed dishes. However, we will ensure that you are served food that is safe for you, but it may not reflect the theme of the class. Allergies must be noted at the time of the registration.

    Allergy Policy for Kid’s Cooking Camps:

    Unfortunately, due to the volume of the recipes children will be making during the camp we are unable to accommodate any food allergies or dietary restrictions. If your child has a food allergy that you believe will restrict what they are able to eat during the camp (snacks and lunch), we advise that they bring a bagged lunch. 

    While the recipes prepared during camps will be nut-free, due to the nature of our facility, the ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen cannot guarantee that there will be no exposure to nut products or other allergens.

    Our guests remain our top priority and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Our Blue Flame Kitchen staff will be more than happy to address any questions or concerns you may have. 

  • Terms

    Cooking classes and demonstrations are paid in full at time of booking and can be made in person, online or over the telephone. Confirmation of phone registrations will be sent via email and receipts will be available to pick-up when you arrive for your class.

    If registration for a class is less than twelve (12) people, we reserve the right to cancel the class to ensure participants enjoy the very best experience possible. We will make every effort to contact guests in advance and will offer you an opportunity to re-book for another class or provide a full refund.

    Attendance of Minors Policy

    The ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen periodically offers cooking camps for children aged 9-12 years old. To attend these classes, we will need a participation form signed by a parent or guardian, which will be emailed out approximately 5 days prior to the first day of the camp. Children under the age of 9 are strictly not permitted in the facility.

    For our standard Hands-On, Lunch ‘N Learn, and Chef’s Table classes attendees under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult. For safety reasons, the ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen must be made aware in advance of any minors in attendance of a cooking class. 

  • Inclusion Policy

    Our classes strive to be an inclusive environment for all adults. Please make us aware of any disabilities or behavioural needs that may affect your participation. Registration is required for all individuals attending classes at ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen including Personal Support Workers. Please contact us if you require further information.

    Our cooking camps strive to be an inclusive environment for all children. Please make us aware of any disabilities or behavioural needs that may affect your child’s participation. While our goal is inclusive participation, there are times when a child requires more support than our current ratios are able to provide. Therefore ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen welcomes the opportunity for parents to send a support person to accompany the child. Please contact us if you require further information

  • Cancellation Policy

    Cancellation Policy for Lunch Classes, Chef’s Table & Hands-On:

    A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel your registration and receive a full refund for the class. After this time, your registration in the class is final; if you are unable to attend you may choose to send someone in your place. Please call in advance to let us know so we can accommodate the change.


    Group Bookings:

    If you are booking a group of six or more people please call 403 245 7630 (Calgary) or 780 420 7282 (Edmonton)  to register. We require one full weeks’ notice to cancel for a full refund.


    Cancellation Policy for Kid’s Cooking Camps:

    A minimum of 10 days’ notice for multi-day camps and 5 days’ notice for single day camps is required to cancel your registration and receive a full refund.  After this time, your registration in the class is final.
