APRICOT BARBECUE SAUCE

Sweet and sticky apricot jam is an ideal addition to this easy homemade barbecue sauce. Brush it on chicken or ribs before grilling or, smear it on a hamburger bun in place of ketchup.

Yield: Makes 1 2/3 cups.

APRICOT BARBECUE SAUCE

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup apricot jam
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp fancy molasses
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium non-reactive saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally. May be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
