ASPARAGUS WITH ALMONDS

Elevate your asparagus with slivered almonds and a splash of white wine in our version of the classic Asparagus Almondine.

Yield: Serves 4.

ASPARAGUS WITH ALMONDS

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp salted butter
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 4 cups diagonally sliced asparagus
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • Freshly ground pepper*
  • 2 tbsp dry white wine or chicken broth

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a frypan over medium heat. Add almonds and sauté until lightly browned; transfer almonds to a heatproof bowl and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in same frypan over medium heat. Add asparagus and onion; sauté for 5 minutes. Season to taste with pepper. Add wine and cook, covered, for 2 minutes. Transfer to serving dish and sprinkle with almonds.
