BALSAMIC AND FENNEL STEAK

Add some extra flavour to grilled steak with a unique balsamic and fennel seed marinade.

Yield: Serves 4.

BALSAMIC AND FENNEL STEAK

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tsp fennel seed, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp thyme, crumbled
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 1 1/2 lb (0.75 kg) sirloin steak, 1 1/2 inches thick

Directions

  1. To prepare marinade, combine all ingredients except steak in a heavy zip-lock plastic bag. Add steak and squeeze bag to coat steak with marinade; seal bag. Let stand for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat natural gas barbecue on medium heat for 10 - 15 minutes. Remove steak from marinade; discard marinade. Grill steak to desired doneness.
