BEER AND PRETZEL BURGERS

Crushed pretzels give these juicy beer-spiked burger patties some extra crunch. Top them with our mouth-watering Beer-B-Q Onions.

Yield: Serves 8.

BEER AND PRETZEL BURGERS

Ingredients

  • 2 lb (1 kg) lean ground beef
  • 3/4 cup coarsely crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup beer
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp prepared mustard
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 8 hamburger buns
  • Beer-B-Q Onions*

Directions

  1. ​Combine first 7 ingredients (beef through pepper). Shape mixture into 8 patties.
  2. Grill patties over medium heat on natural gas barbecue until completely cooked. Serve in buns with Beer-B-Q Onions.

BEER B Q ONIONS

Ingredients

  • ​1 tbsp butter
  • 4 cups sliced onions
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup beer
  • 1/8 tsp freshly ground pepper

Yield: Makes 2 cups.

Directions

  1. ​Melt butter in a large frypan over medium-low heat. Add onions and cook, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, about 20 – 25 minutes. Add sugar and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Stir in beer and pepper. Cook, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until most of liquid is evaporated, about 5 minutes; keep warm.
