Cooked Playdough

This is a quick playdough recipe for when your kids are stuck inside and bored, but you can't run to the toy store. This recipe can easily be double for twice the fun!

Yield: Makes about 1 lb.

Cooked Playdough

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • Liquid food colouring
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar

Directions

  1. Combine water and a few drops of food colouring.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring gently, until mixture thickens and forms a ball. Remove from heat. Cool completely.
  3. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Tip: As an alternative to colouring the whole dough ball, prepare dough without liquid food colouring and divide into pieces. Cool completely. Add 1 - 2 drops of food colouring to each dough ball and knead in colour with gloved hands until incorporated.
