Cream Cheese Spritz Cookies

This decorative cookie is very similar to a sugar cookie. In our version, we added lemon juice and lemon peel to give it a fresh tangy flavour.

Cream Cheese Spritz Cookies


  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 4 oz (125 g) cream cheese
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp grated lemon peel, optional


  1. Preheat oven to 375ᵒF.
  2. Combine flour and baking powder; set aside.
  3. Using medium speed of an electric mixer, beat together butter and cream cheese. Beat in sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, lemon juice, vanilla and lemon peel; mix well.
  5. Add dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  6. Fill a cookie press or a piping bag fitted with a large open star tip. Press into desired shapes onto an ungreased baking sheet, leaving 2 inches between cookies.
  7. Bake until edges are browned, about 10 – 12 minutes.
  8. Let cookies stand for 5 minutes on cookie sheets.
  9. Remove from cookie sheets and cool completely on racks.
