Creamy White Frosting

A classic creamy butter frosting is the perfect choice to frost your favourite cake. Use this delicious freezer-friendly frosting to top a layer cake, sheet cake or cupcakes. 

Storage time: 2-3 days in the refrigerator or up to 2 months in the freezer.

Yield: 2 3/4 cups

Creamy White Frosting


  • 1 cup salted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 1/2 cups icing sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk (2%)


  1. Using medium speed of an electric mixer, beat butter and vanilla until light and creamy. Using low speed, gradually beat in icing sugar until combined. Beat in milk, 1 tbsp at a time, until fluffy and smooth, about 2 minutes.

Tip: For frozen frosting, thaw in refrigerator and stir well or re-beat before using.
