Cupcake Cones

This delicious cake treat is a kid-friendly classic! Your young chef will have fun making and especially decorating these easy cupcake cones.

Cupcake Cones

Ingredients

  • 16 flat-bottom ice cream cones
  • 1 recipe for a 2-layer cake

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F or temperature directed in the cake recipe.
  2. Put the ice cream cones into two muffin tins and stabilize with small rings of aluminum foil around the cones. 
  3. Fill cones 1/2 to no more than 2/3 full.  Overfilling cones will cause the batter to overflow. 
  4. Bake until toothpick comes out clean, about 15 to 20 minutes.

Tip:

 

A 432 g box of cake mix works wonderfully for this fun take on cupcakes.

Make a double batch of frosting if you want to pipe it to look like soft-serve ice cream.
