Five-Spice Marinade

Infuse meat or poultry with Asian flavours, such as star anise, cinnamon, cloves and fennel using our Five-Spice Marinade.

Yield: Makes about 3/4 cup

Five-Spice Marinade


  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp canola oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes


  1. Combine all ingredients.
  2. Use to marinate meat or poultry. Allow to marinate for up to 30 minutes.
Tip: This marinade gives an intense flavour, therefore marinating time is short. Do not use for longer than 30 minutes.
