Fresh Spinach with Lemon Nutmeg Butter

We added fresh lemon and nutmeg to these Spring greens. Serve this delicious side dish with barbecued beef, chicken or fish.

Fresh Spinach with Lemon Nutmeg Butter


  • 1 lb fresh spinach  
  • 1 tsp finely grated lemon peel 
  • 1/4 cup melted salted butter
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  •  1 tbsp fresh lemon juice


  1. Wash spinach and cook, without additional water, in a covered saucepan just until tender. Drain if necessary.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over spinach. Serve immediately.

Tip: Beet greens or Swiss chard may be used in place of spinach.
