GRILLED PORTOBELLOS

Portabellos are big mushrooms with a meaty texture. Grill them up as a vegetarian alternative to steak or burgers.

Yield: Serves 4.

GRILLED PORTOBELLOS

Ingredients

  • 2 portobello mushrooms, sliced 1/2 inch thick
  • 1/4 cup melted salted butter
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat natural gas barbecue on medium for 10 - 15 minutes.
  2. Combine butter, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar and pepper. Brush mushrooms with some of the melted butter mixture. Place mushrooms on a grill topper or directly on barbecue grid.
  3. Grill mushrooms, basting with remaining melted butter mixture, until tender, about 7 - 10 minutes. Turn once during cooking.
