Slow Cooker Chicken Cacciatore

Make this Italian classic in your slow cooker! Slowly cook chicken to tender perfection in a rich and rustic tomato sauce.

Slow Cooker Chicken Cacciatore

Ingredients

  • 8 skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 jar (700 mL) tomato-based pasta sauce
  • 2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp basil, crumbled
  • 1 tsp oregano, crumbled
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 cup water

Directions

  1. Combine first 10 ingredients (chicken through oregano) in a slow cooker.
  2. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 6 - 7 hours or until chicken is cooked through and vegetables are tender. Increase to high heat setting.
  3. Whisk together flour and water until smooth. Stir into cacciatore. Cover and cook for 30 minutes or until cacciatore is thickened.
