The southwestern flavour of this bean salad comes from lime juice, hot pepper jelly, chili powder and cilantro. Serve it as a side dish at your next barbecue.

  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp red pepper jelly
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp hot pepper sauce
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 2 cans (19 oz/540 mL each) Romano beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup sliced celery
  • 1 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro


  1. To prepare dressing, whisk together lime juice, red pepper jelly, chili powder, salt and hot pepper sauce. Gradually whisk in oil until blended.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl. Add dressing and toss to combine.
