TANGY GRILLED ASPARAGUS

This barbecued side dish gets its tang from a garlic and balsamic marinade. Serve it with grilled meat or fish.

TANGY GRILLED ASPARAGUS

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp canola oil
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 24 asparagus spears, trimmed

Directions

  1. To prepare marinade, combine all ingredients except asparagus in a heavy zip-lock plastic bag. Add asparagus and squeeze bag to coat asparagus with marinade; seal bag. Let stand for 30 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, preheat natural gas barbecue on medium heat for 10 - 15 minutes.
  3. Remove asparagus from marinade; discard marinade. Grill asparagus, turning occasionally, until tender, about 5 - 7 minutes.
