Curried Chickpea Hummus

We elevated our Easy Chickpea Hummus by adding onions, ginger, curry and a little bit of heat with some red pepper flakes.

Yield: Makes 1 2/3 cups

Curried Chickpea Hummus


  • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup sliced white onion
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup Easy Chickpea Hummus (recipe link below)
  • 3 tbsp plain greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp liquid honey
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Pita crisps or crackers*


  1. Heat oil in a medium frypan over medium heat. Add onion and cook until slightly softened, about 2 minutes. Add ginger and garlic.
  2. Cook until fragrant, about 2 – 3 minutes. Add curry powder and red pepper flakes to pan and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  3. Transfer onion mixture to a food processor. Process until smooth. Add Easy Chickpea Hummus, yogurt, lime juice, honey and salt. Process to combine.
  4. Serve with pita crisps or crackers.
